a piece of skin was coming off of my finger. ever since i placed the band-aide on my finger, i replaced it 3 times in order to keep my finger from infection because when the same band-aide is on for too long, it starts accumulating germs. all of this was done in order to keep the piece of skin attached to my finger. all these times i have been replacing the band-aids and without giving attention to the wound. as i looked down on my finger a few minutes a go, i noticed that the piece of skin still barely attached to my finger was a breeding ground for these germs. it was the reason that my finger wasn't healing properly. yet, my goal in using the band-aid was to keep this skin attached to my finger. this shriveled up piece of bacteria ridden flesh. i had never stopped to think that this piece of skin was actually causing my wound to become worse than it was before. i just thought how applicable this metaphor was to my life (as disturbing and grotesque as it sounds).
