is it not strange that our hope can be a source of despair and disappointment? the feeling that gives your life a sense of purpose can also strip your life of that very same sense of purpose when it is lost. this is why we CANNOT place our hope in anything of this world. people....people will always let you down. God will never fail you. He's never failed me. even in the times when i was in utter despair, i was never alone. He was holding my hand. but He can only hold your hand if you let him. you can only find comfort in His presence when you understand that He is there. God will give us the desires of our heart in His timing but we cannot let the desires of our heart be the only source of our hope because that is when you will be truly disappointed. if your value lies in someone or something other than the one that created, you will always feel alone because humans are selfish and they do what benefits themselves in the end. only God does what benefits you.

"for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11)

the hope He offers us will never leave us in despair. despair only comes from having hope in something that is hopeless. something that is of this world. next time you are feeling hopeless...feeling despair, seriously question what you place your hope in.
