she was once an unwavering rock upon the shores but the mighty waves pulled her out to sea
lacking firm foundations on to which to rest her head, she floated aimlessly among the algae
hoping to remain unswallowed by the creatures from below
looked back and could no longer see the shore; feelings of fear and lonliness soon overcame
she layed floating on her back just to watch the sun shine upon her
twice bitten and bitten once more by the gulls from above
bitter saltwater tapping away on her tongue and in her wounds, burning and stinging her tender flesh
ocean tides attempted to pull her under but she survived them, barely keeping her head above the water
she opened her eyes widely to the vision of a boat
surfaced all the strength she could and swam toward the starboard
upon arrival, she realized that the vessel was empty and had been left abandoned
she got into the boat and sailed away, in directions she did not know
days upon days passed her by until she reached the shores of an unchartered island; safe at last
yet she was still alone
madness overcoming her mind
she jumped back into the boat and sailed back into the sea
the dangers of storms and tides did not scare her as much as the dangers of being alone with her thoughts
